The Paddocks - How and Why?

When I got my computer in December of 2001, I soon got bored with just clicking around on the Internet. I joined NeoPets, and after a few weeks there I found the HTML guide.

At my riding school, it's not a rule that people have to help out. I, as well as most of my friends, always untack our mount, and any other horse not being used and make them comfortable, because we believe that's what you should do. It isn't fair to leave the horse who's been carrying you round for and hour or more, stood in his stable with a saddle on his back and metal in his mouth. What kind of thanks is that? There are people (or really, one person (not that I'm going to mention names *cough* BETHANY *cough*)) who think that they're the exception to this rule. In fact, Bethany likes to hit her horse with her crop when he's behaving perfectly well, even when he's stood in line waiting to jump, but don't get me started on her.

I wanted to make a site to educate young riders on riding and care of their horse, and make things like grooming and learning to tack up fun. I don't remember the date, or even the month, but I set up The Barn at envy.nu.
This was a go-nowhere site. I wasn't very good at HTML so everything was basic, no tables or frames, just pages of centred text on bright background colours. That site evolved into The Paddocks, and kept on changing into what you see today, almost one year on.

I want The Paddocks to be something different to your typical horse site - the me, you, www variety. I want it to be not just a matter of layouts and blogs, but a place where you can really learn about horses and riding. I've provided interactive features in a safe environment, and many more will be added soon. Keep your eye on The Paddocks, because who knows what might happen in the future?
Best wishes!
